Our Complex Hybrid Bare Root Trees

These complex hybrids or "interspecifics" were created through specific hand pollination of two or more species as explained by Phil Pursel from Dave Wilson Nursery in our video, The Development of Pluots® and Friends. The complex, intense flavor of these hybrids is unique to interspecifics, much like a blend of fruit juices where the mixture is an improvement over any of the separate ingredients.

Additionally, the sugar content of interspecifics is much higher than in standard peaches, plums or apricots, yielding fruit of incomparable sweetness. It can take breeders from 15 to 30 years to fully develop these fruits. Most complex hybrids bear fruit at 4-5 years old. Pluots® are also a complex hybrid of plum and apricot that more resembles a plum

Trees are on either Citation or Myro2C rootstock (noted under each variety). Semi-dwarf trees will grow to 14'-20'. Trees are 2 years old and should begin to fruit in their 4th or 5th year.
