- Facts to Note: Montezuma Red Oats mature a few weeks earlier than California Red but has less biomass. California Red Oats develop earlier than Cayuse White, but Cayuse White Oats have more leaf growth and therefore provide more organic matter, sometimes up to 14% more.
Out for the season but Monida Oats are a good substitute. Monida oats have a finer stem and makes a better hay or forage than Cayuse Oats.
